The Best Of The New Music Released Today

It's Friday which means SO many great things - like, the weekend is close, you probably don't have to get up early tomorrow ANNNNND NEW MUSIC IS HERE!

Today we're talking mostly about The Chainsmokers new album 'Memories... Do Not Open' and OF COURSE, Harry Styles' new single 'Sign of the Times' as well as a few others.

Ready?!

First up:

Halsey - 'Now or Never'

She came in and talked about this new single with us earlier this week and it was SUCH a blast having her in studio. This song is definitely different than some of the stuff we're hearing on the radio right now. It's like... mysterious pop, if that were a genre.

Favorite lyric: We've been through it all/ But you could never spit it out for me/ Tryna talk to a wall/ But you could never tear it down for me, yeah

You can HEAR her saying "OMG JUST TALK TO ME" through the entire song. And I absolutely live for it.

Halsey not only released the song this week but also the video - which is pretty cool because it was her first time directing!

Next we have:

Camila Cabello, Pitbull and J Balvin - 'Hey Ma'

This is a jam, and it's one of the first new songs we're getting from Camila after she broke off from Fifth Harmony and went solo! This one is giving all the Miami vibes, which, you know, isn't surprising being the three artists who collabed on it.

The song is for the new movie Fate of the Furious but was actually released in Spanish before this release in English. I LOVE both versions and I'm excited to see Camila returning to her roots.

The song basically sounds how this looks:

If you know what I mean.

OK now let's get into it.

Harry Styles - 'Sign of the Times'

There's just so much to say with this one. I mean, it's a SOLO record from Harry Styles.

It's new and interesting and unlike anything you've heard Harry Styles sing before. Like, there's some John Lennon vibes and some slight queen influences and it's SO PERFECT.

This is, weirdly, the exact song you would expect him to release, even though it's so unlike what you've ever heard him release. And I hope his entire solo album is going to be a bit like this song as well - which I think it might.

If you haven't heard the song yet:

Please sit through the whole thing. His vocals throughout are amazing but toward the end especially they are absolutely FLAWLESS.

Favorite lyric: We don't talk enough/ We should open up/ Before it's all too much

We're all so happy you're back, Harry!

And finally:

The Chainsmokers - 'Memories... Do Not Open'

There are SO many songs on this album that I'm not going to be able to RAVE about all of them, but there are some definite stand out moments.

Break Up Every Night - I DIG this. You wanna dance, but in a way that's different from most of The Chainsmokers dance songs. It feels almost like there's inspiration from like, Fall Out Boy, or something in this one.

Bloodstream - when The Chainsmokers get nostalgic and emotional is when I think some of their best work is shown. This is depressing and heartbreaking, but DANG it's so good.

Favorite lyric: Yeah, things were sweet three months ago/ When I was living how I wanna on my own/ And I thought I don't need that much/ I guess I was out of touch

My Type - I can't say I personally relate to this because I am happily married with a freaking awesome husband. BUT I know there are sooo many people who relate to this one because it's all about your type being the absolutely worst kind of person.

Favorite lyric: And I'm foolin' myself, 'cause I know that I'll never change ya/ But you told me the truth, so I guess I can't really blame ya/ No, you're not the one, but you're all I want, yeah/ People say I'll get hurt, I don't know what they're so afraid of

Absolutely lyrical gold right here.

Those three are just some of my favs, but the entire album is an absolute jam! You want to dance and you want to cry a little and you want to drive along the coast with this album blaring.

Congrats to all for the incredible new music!! I'll be listening all weekend.
