This story makes my heart so happy! Apple the kitten was at Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in Salt Lake City, Utah hoping to find a forever home. She had already been adopted but the family returned her when they found out she had Feline Leukemia. Ugh so heartbreaking!!
That's when mom of five Wendy Bylsma steps in. The family was on a trip to the shelter, not to adopt but just to show their kids the importance of adopting. When they noticed little Apple all alone in her kennel, they knew they couldn't leave there without her. Mom knows the kitten doesn't have long and it will be heartbreaking for the family to lose her but wanted to teach her kids about compassion and about stepping up to help others when others won't. Apple can now live the rest of her days with a loving family instead of at the shelter. A HUGE thank you to this family for doing what so many others wouldn't. I may have cried while writing this story. I LOVE happy adoption stories.
