The French film “The Intouchables“ has already broken box-office records overseas and earned the title of highest grossing movie for a film in a non-English language. The movie’s producer Harvey Weinstein called into “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” on Thursday to talk about the film’s success and the developing an English remake.

On The Plot of “The Intouchables”:
“It’s a true story about a kid from the streets who has no pity for a billionaire French man who lost his wife, who’s a daredevil, crashes his car, and he becomes paraplegic, can’t feel anything, and he wants a guy with no pity. By the end of the movie the two unlikeliest of friends become buddies, they crash cars, they meet girls, they have so much fun, and the scene where they jump out of the airplane? That is for real. The 2 actors literally did it.”

Are You Also Making It In English?
“Yes, we’re going to do it in a couple years with Paul Fine, the director of Bridesmaids,” and we’ve already cast Colin Firth as the aristocrat and we’re going to set it in America, set it in New York City, and of course we’re looking for, you know, the guy who’s going to play Omar Sy.”

“Now to give you an idea, this actor Omar Sy. He beat Jean Dujardin for the French academy awards this year, so he beat the Oscar winner. Right after the awards, Jean Dujardin calls me and goes, ‘Don’t feel the pressure, but I better win the Oscar,’ cause I’m humiliated and they’re both your movies, so make sure I win.’ Not too much pressure.”

Is Jamie Foxx Being Considered For This?
“100 percent and he’s killing it for me in New Orleans right now on “Django.” He leaves no body undead in that movie. Omigod, it is just the greatest action thing.”

What About Chris Rock?
“Chris Rock is definitely in there, 100 percent too.”
