Steve Carell called in to ”On Air With Ryan Seacrest” Tuesday to talk about working with wife Nancy on the set of his new film, “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,” and about rumors that he’s in talks to play Christian Gray in the film adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Is He In Talks To Play Christian Gray In “Fifty Shades of Grey” ?
“Oh, I will both confirm and deny that. That’s a losing cause. What would America do? That would be a horrible, horrible thing to do to America.”

Was Nancy There For The Intimate Moment Between Him And Keira Knightley?
“Oh she insists on being there, yes. She was in the back of the car. You know, actually the scene we shot…Nancy’s in one scene and that was shot on our actual anniversary, that was shot on our 17th anniversary. And extremely romantic that in the scene she’s leaving me. Yeah, she shot me some daggers.  Actually the director came up afterward and said, ‘Wow,  her eyes are saying some really really major stuff to you.’ It’s like, ‘Yeah, I don’t want to see that at home.’”

Is It Uncomfortable To Shoot Such A Dark Comedy?
“It’s a little weird shooting something like that because no matter what you’re doing in the movie as that character, there’s that looming thing hanging over you of like, ‘Wow, this could all be over.’ You know what though? When you think about it, it’s sort of just a metaphor for life. We’re all going through it and there’s an end date for all of us. It’s kind of how you choose to live your life, so there’s really sort of a joyousness to it, I think, as well.”

How would He React To The End Of The World?
“It’s an interesting sort of examination there and I always think when faced with that I probably wouldn’t react at all like I would assume. I would think I would be cool, calm, and collected, but I’d probably just go crazy. I would probably just have to have some fantastic meals.”

“Seeking a Friend for the End of the World,” opens in theaters on Friday.
